KATHMANDU: The entrance examinations for new student admission under the faculty of health sciences of Tribhuvan University and Kathmandu University have become uncertain due to the lockout at the faculty offices.

Tribhuvan University, Institute of Medicine had scheduled the entrance examinations to the MBBS level for September 7 and 9. About 19 thousand students were to sit for the examinations.

A struggle committee formed in the participation of the free students union has padlocked the faculties since September 1, calling for a scholarship up to 75 percent in medical education.

Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Giriraj Mani Pokharel has started discussions with the TU and KU officials over this matter and initiatives are being made to seek a solution to the problem through talks, spokesperson at the Ministry of Education, Dr. Hari Lamsal, said.

Before this also, the Education Minister had directed the university authorities to take initiatives to remove the lockout carried out at various sections of the TU Dean’s Office and the Kathmandu University.

Minister Pokharel took additional initiatives after the talks to remove the padlock reportedly did not yield positive results. He has once again directed for fulfilling the justified demands of the students and for creating a conducive environment for conducting the entrance examinations on time.
