HONG KONG: Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam has said she had never discussed with the Chinese government to let her step down towards ending Hong Kong’s political crisis.

She said this while responding to a query about a recording of her saying she would resign if she could.

Hundreds of thousands of people in Hong Kong have been taking to the streets since mid-June against currently-suspended draft legislation that could send people to mainland China for trial. (Agencies)
