Chinese plane lands in Kathmandu for ‘test’ flight ahead of Xi’s visit

KATHMANDU: A Chinese aircraft from Beijing landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) this afternoon as part of the preparations for the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The 747-800 series aircraft Boeing landed at the TIA as a test (landing and take-off) flight, according to TIA sources.

The plane will return at 3:15 pm today.

All international and domestic flights were halted for some time when the Chinese plane landed at the TIA.

The Chinese president is expected to visit Nepal on October 15 after completion of his five-day state visit to India.
