Parliament Secretariat notifies lawmakers about Speaker Mahara’s resignation

KATHMANDU: The Federal Parliament Secretariat on Wednesday issued a notice informing lawmakers of the vacancy of the position of the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The notice has been issued a day after Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara tendered his resignation after an allegation of sexual misconduct against him with a woman, also a parliament staffer.

The secretariat in the notice signed by parliament Secretary Bharat Raj Gautam informed that Mahara has submitted his resignation.

The notice was issued as per the directive of Deputy Speaker Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe.
