KATHMANDU: Dr. Vijay Chauthaiwale, In-charge of Foreign Affairs Department of India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has said Nepal could reap the benefits from its proximity with India — a rapidly developing economy.
Speaking at a program on “Nepal Bharat Cooperation, Prospects and Challenges in the Present Context” organized by the Nepal Bharat Friendship Society in Kathmandu today, he spoke about the transformative development that have been initiated by India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The transformative development, he said, has been rapidly transforming the Indian economy.
On the occasion, he made it a point to say that India will neither interfere in Nepal’s internal affairs, not it has any plans to make Nepal unstable. Brushing aside allegations that India is pursuing its design to make Nepal unstable, he said the reality is different than what has been rumored.
He said Nepal, as a sovereign country, can make its decision itself adding that India wants to promote relations with Nepal purely on the basis of mutual trust, which will benefit both countries.
Meanwhile, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri emphasized on further intensifying the age-old relation between India and Nepal.
The program was attended by Nepal’s political leaders, former ambassadors, and foreign policy experts.
