BANKE: Around 300 citizenship cards, which were issued on the basis of descent have been annulled in Banke, the District Administration Office (DAO) Banke stated.

According to the DAO, the authorities scrapped citizenship cards from places such as Khajurakhurda, Rajhena, and Manikapur.

The district administration took the step after the Supreme Court (SC) ordered to annul some 34,000 citizenship cards, which according to the SC were illegally distributed in various districts of the Terai.

Chief District Officer (CDO) of Banke district Madan Bhujel said some 299 citizenship cards in three local levels in Banke have been scrapped.
