Gamblers withdraw habeas corpus petition filed at SC



KATHMANDU: 14 out of 25 gamblers who had moved Supreme Court (SC) with a habeas corpus petition claiming their detention to be illegal have withdrawn the petition on Friday.

They recalled the petition saying that they could not gather enough proofs to prove their detention to be illegal.

The Kathmandu District Administration Office on Thursday had remanded the gamblers to seven-day in custody starting from the date of arrest.

14 out of 25 arrested from a ‘VIP’ gambling den had moved the apex court with a habeas corpus petition claiming their detention to be illegal.
