Integrated security plan readied for by-elections



KATHMANDU: All the four security bodies including Nepal Army (NA) will be mobilized for the by-elections slated to be held on November 30.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA) has formulated an integrated security plan to deploy security personnel from NA, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force (APF) and National Investigation Department (NID).

A discussion was held on the security plan at the ministry on Friday. Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’, Home Secretary Prem Kumar Rai, Nepal Police IGP Sarbendra Khanal, APF Chief Sailendra Khanal, NID Chief Ganesh Adhikari and NA Lieutenant General Gaurav Tandul among others were present at the meeting.

At the meeting, Home Minister Thapa praised the security plan and directed them to put finishing touches based on security sensitivity and learning from the past elections.

Home Minister Thapa directed the security bodies to make sure that the polls are held in a peaceful manner.

By-elections are taking place in different vacant positions at all three levels in 37 districts on November 30.
