KANKAI: The ‘Hamro Purbanchal International Gold Cup’ is taking place at Domlal Rajbamshi Stadium of Jhapa from starting Saturday.
A total of 10 teams, including five ‘A’ division club, are participating in the tournament namely ‘Annapurna Hamro Purbanchal International Gold Cup-2076’.
According to the Gold Cup Organizing Committee, preparation for the tournament is over. In the inaugural match of the tournament, the host team is taking on Sikkim Attacking FC. Jayon Sports Club, the host, along with two Indian teams – Sikkim Attacking and Sankata Club Molwe, Asam are participating in the tournament.
Likewise, Tribhuwan Army Club, Armed Police Force club, Jhapa 11 AFC, Nepal Polie Club and Gorkha Boys Rupandehi are also participating in the Gold Cup.
The best goalkeeper, defender, forward, mid-field and emerging players will receive a cash award of Rs 15,000 each. The outstanding player of the Gold Cup will receive a motorbike.
Jhapa 11 AFC chair Jal Kumar Gurung and young entrepreneur of Birtamodh Rajesh Shivakoti are sponsoring the motorbike prize. The winner of the tournament will get Rs 1.25 million and first runner-will receive up to Rs 625,000, host club chair Bhakta Khawas informed.
