PM Dahal urges NPC to introduce employment generation schemes

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has directed the National Planning Commission (NPC) to devise new schemes aimed at boosting production and creating employment opportunities across the country. During a meeting with the newly appointed members of the NPC, who visited the Prime Minister at his office in Singha Durbar today, he stressed the need for addressing the country’s major challenges of low production and employment in a systematic manner.

NC should pursue honesty and competence in politics: Gagan Thapa

Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Thapa has called for the party to seek honest and competent individuals. Speaking at a discussion titled “Nepali Democratic Movement and the New Democracy” organized in Kathmandu on Tuesday, the NC General Secretary stated that there has been a proliferation of anomalies in politics. “NC, as the oldest and largest democratic force needs honest and competent individuals. Politics has seen a rampant proliferation of anomalies,” Thapa said, adding, “We are witnessing a scenario where people come into politics, indulge in superficial activities, show off, rally certain stunt and disappear.”

Nepal clinches series over Ireland Wolves

Nepal has clinched the series against Ireland Wolves with a clean sweep lead. In the second match on Tuesday, Nepal defeated Ireland Wolves by 71 runs, securing the series with a 2-0 lead. Ireland Wolves, chasing Nepal’s target of 199 runs, was bowled out for 127 runs in 18.3 overs. For Ireland Wolves, Stephen Doheny scored the highest with 26 runs, while Morgan Topping contributed 21 runs.

NEPSE index sees double-digit increase on Tuesday

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index has seen a surge of double digits on Tuesday, second trading day of the week. The NEPSE index climbed by 10.14 points, reaching a steady 2,041.70 points today. With a turnover of Rs. 2.35 billion, involving 6,842,392 shares of various 310 companies being traded 49,512 times. In today’s trading, the finance group saw a decrease of 0.06 points, life insurance group saw a decrease of 0.18 points, and trading group saw a decrease of 0.14 percent, while all other groups saw an increase in their sub-indices.

State Affairs Committee summons Home Minister Lamichhane for discussion

The State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the Legislature-Parliament has called Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane for discussions on the functioning of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Lamichhane is scheduled for Wednesday morning at 11 am. According to the Committee’s secretariat, the meeting, to be held in the parliamentary committee’s office at Singha Durbar, will focus on contemporary issues related to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Police identify suspects in Lalitpur Holi incident, murder charges against five accused

Police have publicly identified the suspects involved in the Lalitpur Holi incident, where a tragic altercation occurred resulting in the death of two individuals. On Sunday night, following Holi celebrations, a group of youths engaged in a violent confrontation at a restaurant located in Dholahiti, Lalitpur Metropolitan City-26. At a press conference organized by the District Police Range, Lalitpur, four suspects were officially named in connection with the incident. The individuals arrested and identified as suspects are Bijay Rai, originally from Sakela Rural Municipality-2, Khotang, who is the owner of the restaurant, Sulab Rai from the same address, Bishal Hang Makarung from Bhojpur, and Chengbhihang Rai from Gokarneshwor, Kathmandu.

UML’s nomination of Suhang Nembang in Ilam by-election sparks party dissent

The CPN (UML) has nominated Suhang Nembang as its candidate for the upcoming by-election in Ilam-2. However, this decision has triggered dissatisfaction among other party leaders in the district. Despite the discontent, the p arty maintains that Suhang Nembang is the most eligible candidate from the district.Those who failed to get nominated have accused the party of not adequately evaluating their service to the party.
