KATHMANDU: The main opposition party, Nepali Congress (NC), has raised questions about the recent statements made by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs, Rabi Lamichhane, regarding GB Rai, who is implicated in a cooperative fraud case.

During an emergency session of the House of Representatives on Sunday, NC General Secretary Bishwo Prakash Sharma expressed objections that despite the Home Minister’s declaration that GB Rai’s location in Malaysia had been discovered, he has not been brought back to Nepal.

Sharma accused the Minister of Home Affairs of attempting to grandstand on the issue of GB Rai.

He questioned the Minister’s statement about discovering Rai’s location, implying that the Minister, who was one of the former owners of Gorkha Media Network, was trying to help his former co-owner, GB Rai, escape.

General Secretary Sharma also mentioned that victims of the Suryadarshan Cooperative were stopped by police at the gate when they went to court to attend hearings.

Additionally, he expressed concern over the transfer of a police officer involved in the cooperative investigation in Kaski within a year, allegedly under the Home Minister Lamichhane’s direction.
