IB arrests another suspect in HyperFund scam

KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has arrested another person in connection with the HyperFund scam, which has reportedly caused millions of rupees in losses to Nepalis both at home and abroad.

According to CIB Spokesperson and Information Officer, Superintendent of Police Hobindra Bogati, the latest suspect, Srikant Bhandari, was apprehended in Rukum on Wednesday.

Earlier, the CIB had arrested Nanu Ghimire, also known as Kajal, in Lalitpur for her alleged involvement in the scam.

To date, the CIB has received complaints from 56 individuals, reporting losses totaling over Rs 79.5 million due to the scam.

The CIB is preparing to issue a red corner notice through Interpol against those named in the complaints filed by the alleged victims.

The bureau has also appealed to other victims to register complaints with the CIB.

Complaints can be lodged online by visiting the official CIB website (https://cib.nepalpolice.gov.np) and submitting information via the provided Gmail addresses ([email protected] or [email protected]).
