KATHMANDU: Indian Police has arrested gangster Ejaz Lakdawala, a former associate of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Rajan after a six-month-long operation.

It has been revealed that Lakdawala was arrested from Pokhara in western Nepal.

Lakdawala who entered Nepal through the US, Britain, African countries some eight years has run a clothing store in New Road, Kathmandu faking his name as Chaudhary Bhaijan.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Lakdawala’s daughter heading to Nepal was arrested from Mumbai International Airport on December 12. Following the arrest, it was revealed that Lakdawala was hiding in Nepal.

It is reported that he was arrested in Pokhara and taken to Mumbai through a flight of Air India on Tuesday.

Indian security officials have been claiming that Lakdawala was arrested from Patna in the Indian state of Bihar.

He was produced before a local court which remanded him to police custody till January 21.

Lakdawala has been on India’s most-wanted list from 1998 when he escaped from Nashik jail.

He is wanted in 27 cases of murder and attempt to murder and in 80 cases of threatening businessmen for extortion in Mumbai alone.

Meanwhile, three suspected terrorists who were allegedly planning an attack in New Delhi and Uttar Pradesh were arrested by Indian Police in Nepal and taken to India.

The three men arrested were identified as Khaja Moideen (52), Syed Ali Navas (32), and Abdul Samad (28). They were allegedly inspired by the Islamic State (IS).

The accused were also involved in the murder of KP Suresh Kumar, a Hindu Munnani leader.
