Govt committed to boosting economic transformation: PM Dahal

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ affirmed the government’s dedication to accelerating the country’s economic transformation by bolstering the morale of entrepreneurs and investors.

Addressing the 58th annual general assembly of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) today, PM Dahal reiterated the government’s focus on ensuring a robust and well-regulated financial system while fostering an enabling environment for the private sector to thrive.

Encouraging all organizations and private sector representatives to proceed with high spirits, the PM emphasized the importance of strong collaboration between the government and the private sector to address the concerns and demands of entrepreneurs and investors.

Highlighting the pivotal role of the private sector in enhancing production, job creation, and investment, the Head of the State emphasized the coordination between the three-tier government and the private sector in policy formulation, program implementation, and budget allocation.

PM Dahal underscored Nepal’s commitment to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, upgrading from the least developed country status to a developing country by 2026, and fostering balanced development and prosperity.

He called for increased investment from both the government and the private sector to realize these goals.

Moreover, PM Dahal disclosed that the government is actively preparing for the upcoming Investment Summit to ensure its effectiveness and productivity.

Acknowledging the challenges and limitations in existing policies, laws, and administrative procedures hindering investment, he expressed the government’s readiness to introduce necessary amendments through ordinances and simplify procedures to attract investment.

While acknowledging positive trends in both internal and external economic indicators, PM Dahal emphasized the need for further progress aligned with national aspirations and requirements.

He emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing the economy through revised policies, programs, and budgets, and fostering discussions and interactions among stakeholders to ensure effective policymaking.

Highlighting the importance of focusing on production growth, employment generation, and the promotion of agriculture-based industries in upcoming policies and budgets, PM Dahal stressed the sustainability of economic achievements.

He also mentioned the government’s efforts to redirect unspent project budgets towards strengthening the economy and prioritizing projects capable of utilizing these funds effectively.
