Speaker Ghimire calls four party meeting amid warning to obstruct parliament

KATHMANDU: Speaker Devraj Ghimire has convened a meeting of the top leaders from the four major political parties represented in the federal parliament.

The meeting, scheduled to include the Prime Minister among its attendees, will take place at Speaker Ghimire’s office in Singhadurbar at 2 pm today.

As per the Speaker’s Secretariat, invitations have been extended to the top leaders of the Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-UML, CPN-Maoist Center, and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) for this gathering.

The primary opposition party, NC, has insisted on the establishment of a parliamentary probe committee, citing allegations of Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane’s involvement in a cooperative scam.

NC has issued a warning that failure to establish a parliamentary committee to investigate the cooperative case will result in disruptions during parliament sessions starting from Tuesday.
