Govt approves new uniform policy for immigration employees

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Home Affairs, including the Department of Immigration (DoI), has implemented a new uniform policy for employees across 15 offices.

Approved by a ministerial decision on May 29, the Department has introduced separate uniforms to distinguish immigration staff.

The initiative aims to address the challenge of differentiating between immigration officers and employees of other agencies.

Home Secretary Eknarayan Aryal confirmed the approval of the uniform by the Home Minister.

He emphasized the mandatory adoption of the prescribed uniform by employees within the Department and its subordinate bodies.

The decision follows Aryal’s suggestion for immigration officers, particularly those stationed at airports, to wear attire distinct from that of civil servants.

Secretary Aryal further highlighted ongoing reform efforts within the Immigration Department, spearheaded by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
