KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has announced its intention to obstruct the meeting of the House of Representatives today, seeking Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha’s clarification on the 100-kilo gold smuggling case.

While the main opposition party, CPN-UML, has called for the resignation of Home Minister Shrestha and Finance Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat, holding them morally responsible for the gold smuggling case, the RPP has taken a different stance.

The RPP clarified that it is not seeking the resignation of the Home Minister and Finance Minister. Instead, the party is demanding a comprehensive investigation into the matter and the prosecution of those found guilty.

“We will not demand their resignation. We demand that the government initiates a thorough investigation and brings the guilty to justice,” stated RPP Chief Whip Gyanendra Shahi. “We seek an answer from the Home Minister,” he added.
