KATHMANDU: Minister for Forest and Environment Pradeep Yadav has said that Nepal will soon declare a climate emergency.

While inaugurating the two-day conference under the ‘Climate Action Champions Network’ (CACN) project, started in Kathmandu from Tuesday with the support of Observer Research Foundation (ORF), Forest Minister Yadav said that Nepal will soon declare a climate emergency against the global crisis of climate change.

He remarked that the severe impact of climate change has hit South Asia, and Nepal has been hit harder making it necessary to declare a climate emergency.

“Developed countries’ inability to stop carbon emissions has seriously affected many countries like Nepal, in South Asia,” Forest and Environment Minister Yadav said in the opening session of the conference, adding, “To reduce the impact of climate change, the Nepalese government will soon declare a climate emergency.”
