UML leaders from both sides expedite talks for party unity

KATHMANDU: Second-rung leaders of the CPN-UML have intensified discussions to forge a consensus and go for party unity.

Leaders of the party intensified talks as soon as the party decided to transform the 10th General Convention Organizing Committee into the Central Committee, and nullify the action taken against the dissident leaders, including senior leader Madhav Kumar Khanal.

UML leaders, who have been campaigning for party unity, are engaged in discussions at a hotel in Lalitpur.

Earlier on Wednesday, the party had dissolved the Organizing Committee of the 10th National General Convention of the UML.

A meeting of the General Convention Organizing Committee held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar decided to dissolve the committee and transform it into a central committee, according to UML Spokesperson Pradeep Gyawali.

Spokesperson Gyawali informed that the meeting of the Transformed Central Committee will be convened on Friday.
