Prior permission mandatory for advertising goods on social networking sites

KATHMANDU: The Advertisement Board has prepared a draft of code of conduct for advertisement with the aim of tightening a loop on Internet-based advertisements.

The Board unveiled the draft on Tuesday stating that it would give a final touch following the consultation with the stakeholders.

According to the provision laid down in the draft, a prior permission is mandatory before keeping advertisements on social networking sites.

“No advertisement can be published or broadcast on social networking sites without prior permission,” reads clause 5.9 of the draft.

Similarly, advertisements cannot be disseminated or published on social networking sites and via mobile apps without the permission of the concerned persons, according to the proposed draft.
