KATHMANDU: The meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) has been adjourned till September 23 following the obstruction by the main opposition CPN-UML.

However, the meeting has endorsed an Appropriation Bill tabled by Finance Minister Janardhan Sharma today.

The Appropriation Bill now will be tabled in the Upper House for endorsement. Once it is passed by the National Assembly and returned to the HoR, the Speaker will sign the document and send it to the President for authentication. The National Assembly will have to return the bill within 15 days.

Questing over the Bill, lawmaker of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP) Prem Suwal said it is wrong idea to run the government on loan stating that Nepal has already a staggering loan of Rs 17 trillion.

Earlier, the ruling coalition parties had issued a whip to all the lawmakers to be present in the House meeting for the endorsement of the budget-related bill.

The Government had not been able to spend from the state treasury without the endorsement of the appropriation bill.

The erstwhile government led by CPN-UML on May 29 had brought ordinance budget for the current fiscal year and it was presented in the federal parliament on July 19.

As per the provision, an ordinance had to be passed within 60 days.
