KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada has said that the government will not withdraw its decision of the provision requiring book traders to pay 10 percent for a book imported from other countries.

Minister Dr Khatiwada said that the provision has been introduced with an aim to promote the business of printers and publishers in Nepal.

Speaking to journalists in Kathmandu today, Minister Khatiwada said that the federal parliament can only make corrections to the law now.

He defended the government’s move saying that trading the books is not trading your knowledge.
