Eight more fatalities take Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll to 467

KATHMANDU: A total of eight people, including four in Kathmandu Valley, died of the coronavirus in the last 24 hours taking the death toll from the pandemic to 467.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, all the new deceased are males.

A 63-year-old in Saptari, aged 20 and 74 years in Kathmandu, 88 years in Bhaktapur, 74 years in Makwanpur, 76 years in Lalitpur, 72 years in Rupandehi and 30 years in Kailali succumbed to the coronavirus.

Nepal had recorded six coronavirus related death on Friday.

The Ministry of Health and Population has recorded 1,207 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, a total of 10,019 persons underwent PCR tests at various laboratories across the country, said Ministry Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam.

At a regular press briefing on Saturday, Spokesperson Dr. Gautam informed that the latest update has taken the infection to a total of 71,821in the country.

During the period, 1,147 infected persons restored their normal health. With this, the number of those recovering from the coronavirus has reached 53,013. The Ministry argued that the recovery rate at present is 73.8 percent.
