KATHMANDU: The Special Court has summoned Nepali Congress (NC) Vice-president Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar in Lalita Niwas land grab case.

Court’s Spokesperson Pushparaj Pandey informed Khabarhub that former Deputy Prime Minister Gachchhadar accused of transferring ownership of the government land to individuals has been asked to report within 15 days.

According to him, summon notices have been issued against 74 out of 175 defendants charge-sheeted in the land scam.

The court has already issued summon notices to former Chief Commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Deep Basnyat, proprietor of Bhatbhateni Supermarket Min Bahadur Gurung and Non-Resident Nepalese Association among others.

The anti-graft body on February 5 had filed a case against 110 people in the controversial land scam while 65 persons and organizations were named defendants to regain the land.
