Thief steals and swallows 11.7 grams of gold

A man has been arrested after he was found to have swallowed golden jewelry weighing 1 tola or 11.7 grams that he had stolen in a failed robbery incident. Surendra Yongya,28 of Phidim municipality-1 was arrested by police red handed from the house of Bishnu Kumari Tamang of Phidim municipality-2. The incident took place on April 10 last month. According to Sumit Kushwaha, Information Officer of the District Police Office, the family members of Bishnu Kumari informed police after Yongya was found stealing from a steel cupboard containing the gold jewelry. The police team arrived immediately and arrested him. He was arrested with Rs 15,000 in cash but nothing else in hand. However, the family members found a jewelry weighing one tola of gold missing and alerted the police, after suspecting that Yongya may have swallowed it.

Gold price up by Rs. 200 per tola today

Gold price increased by Rs 200 per tola in the domestic market today. As reported by the Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the price of fine gold has been fixed at Rs 135,600 per tola, while standard gold is currently traded at Rs 134,950 per tola. The price of fine gold was Rs 135,400 per tola, while standard gold was traded at Rs 134,750 per tola on Sunday.

Govt to bring Ncell under government ownership

The government has announced its decision not to recognize the recent transactions involving the purchase and sale of Ncell shares. With this Satishlal Acharya’s bid to seize control of Ncell through political, administrative, and media maneuvers has met with failure. Following discussions between Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and the ruling CPN-UML chairman KP Sharma Oli, last week’s Cabinet meeting concluded not to acknowledge the recent transaction of share purchase and sale involving Ncell. Sources reveal that based on the findings of an inquiry commission led by Tankamani Sharma, the Council of Ministers reached the decision during its meeting held on Thursday.

Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire has called for a crucial meeting involving key leaders from major political parties, including Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, scheduled for 11 am on Tuesday at Singha Durbar. Hotel Tragedy: Woman found dead, Police investigate allegations of suicide abetment

A man and a woman checked into Star Jon Hotel at Mitra Nagar in Gongabu on Friday night. Without specifying their relationship, the hotel assigned them room number 9 on the third floor. According to hotel staff, this couple has been frequent visitors. This time, a dispute erupted between them and escalated to a fatal level. The girl lost her life, and bruises indicative of physical assault were found on her body. As per a complaint lodged at the Maharajgunj Police Circle, the boy has been identified as Aneet Karki, in his early thirties, from Chandragiri Municipality-15, while the deceased is Kalpana Bhandari, 31, from Letang Municipality-2 in Morang district.

Home Ministry issues guidelines to curb misuse of hospital admissions to evade custody

In an effort to curb the practice of using hospital admissions as a means to evade custody, the Home Ministry has issued comprehensive guidelines. The directive, spearheaded by Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, is aimed at preventing individuals from seeking medical assistance solely to secure admission to a hospital after being arrested. According to the guidelines set forth by the Ministry: Hospital admission will only be permitted if the arrestee is physically or mentally unwell, or suffers from a chronic condition such as high blood pressure or diabetes that necessitates medical treatment. The decision regarding the necessity of hospital treatment will be made by medical professionals registered either with a government hospital or the Nepal Medical Council. Individuals seeking admission for more than 48 hours must provide a valid reason for the extended stay.

Unified Socialist holds parliamentary party meeting; Chair Nepal briefs on current political developments

The parliamentary party meeting of the CPN (Unified Socialist) is currently in session at the federal parliament building in New Baneshwor. Chairperson Madhav Kumar Nepal has convened the meeting to deliberate on recent political developments, particularly the split within the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP). “The political landscape has undergone significant changes, and the meeting will center around addressing these shifts,” stated Metmani Chaudhary, the party’s chief whip.

The Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) led by Upendra Yadav has split, with the faction led by Ashok Rai preparing to register a new party. On Sunday, the group submitted an application to the Election Commission to establish a new party. The division within the JSP has caused significant reverberations in the political landscape of the country, affecting both ruling and opposition parties. In an interview with Khabarhub, Ashok Rai, the proposed Chairman of the new party, revealed that Upendra Yadav and Madhav Nepal, the Chairman of the CPN (Unified Socialist), were collaborating to form a new government with the Nepali Congress.

Ashok Rai-led Janata Samajbadi Party officially registered at Election Commission

The Election Commission has officially recognized the Ashok Rai-led Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) as a new political entity. On Monday, the JSP, supported by seven lawmakers from the House of Representatives (HoR) and 30 central committee members, completed its registration process at the Election Commission. This move comes after these lawmakers submitted their application to the Election Commission on Sunday, following a split from the Upendra Yadav-led Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal.

CPN (Unified Socialist) denies party split amidst speculations, vows unity

The CPN (Unified Socialist) has dismissed reports suggesting an imminent split within the party, asserting that such claims are baseless. Amidst rumors circulating in the Nepali political landscape following the division of the Upendra Yadav-led Janata Samajbadi Party, similar speculations regarding the Unified Socialist Party have emerged. On Monday, the party convened a parliamentary meeting, attended by 10 lawmakers from the House of Representatives and eight from the National Assembly. Lawmaker Sher Bahadur Kuwar, present at the meeting, affirmed that there are no internal disputes or grievances within the party. “We stand united, stronger than ever, and the rumors of a potential party division are unfounded,” Kuwar stated. He further clarified, “Reports suggesting our lawmakers are collaborating with other parties to orchestrate a split are also false.”

Four RSP ministers call for public disclosure of property details

Four Ministers representing the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) have collectively urged the government to disclose their property details to the public. In a letter addressed to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the RSP leaders, including Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, have made this request. The signatories of the letter comprise Dor Prasad Aryal, Minister for Labor, Employment, and Social Security; Sumana Shrestha, Minister for Education; and Bhiraj Bhakta Shrestha, Minister for Sports. As of now, the government has not released the property details of any ministers.

Upendra Yadav to return on Tuesday morning amidst JSP split, set to attend parliamentary party meeting 

Upendra Yadav, Chairman of the Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal (JSP), is slated to return to Nepal on Tuesday morning at 1 am, amidst the party’s recent split. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population, Upendra Yadav, had traveled to the United States of America (USA) as a government representative to participate in the fifty-seventh session of the Commission on Population and Development. During Yadav’s absence, seven out of 12 lawmakers in the House of Representatives (HoR) opted to depart from the party and establish a new party under the leadership of Ashok Rai, a move recognized by the Election Commission. Upon his return, Yadav is expected to promptly join the parliamentary party meeting.
